"I composed these fiery, gestural miniatures sitting alone at the piano late one night. They are a hybrid evoking something of Schönberg and my own pianistic style."

"My old piano teacher, Max Olding, called me out of the blue one day asking if I had any new piano works for his student Cara to perform. Rather than send an older piece, I took the opportunity to compile some sketches I had lying around and write a new work"

"Unreversed explores palindromes. It does so on a musical level with its angular rhythms and melodies, but also by utilising the very geography of the marimba."

"Earlier in 2012, I dabbled with electronic composition. My first completed experiment 'Bathtub Mockup' was such rollicking fun I decided to transcribe it for piano. With optional text following an imagined dialogue between Glenn Gould and Duke Ellington challenging Aaron Copland's narrow opinion of Jazz"

Winning work of the 2010 ASKM Composition Prize

"I wrote and performed this piece hoping to win the ASKM prize in order to afford Sibelius notation software. Happily it all went to plan! Inspired by a subversive tale relayed to me by a famous Australian pianist, it can also be played upside-down and back-to-front.
